The Supreme Council of Prosecutors set the General Assembly of Prosecutors for May 27. It also constituted an election organization commission that will consist of six persons chosen based on proposals submitted earlier by the corps of prosecutors, IPN reports.
According to the press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office, until the new Law on the Prosecution Service takes effect, the Supreme Council of Prosecutors is to set up three new Boards under its management and to dissolve the two Boards that work now. The Qualification Board and the Disciplinary Board will be dissolved the day the Board for Prosecutor Selection and Career, the Prosecutor Performance Assessment Board and the Discipline and Ethics Board are constituted and their composition is approved.
Each Board managed by the Supreme Council of Prosecutors will consist of seven members, five of which will be selected by the Supreme Council of Prosecutors, while two will be chosen by the Council at a public contest from among representatives of civil society. The term in office of the Board members will be of four years.
The Supreme Council of Prosecutors also approved the regulations of the General Assembly of Prosecutors that will regulate the powers and functioning of this self-managing body of prosecutors. The General Assembly will then approve the Prosecutor’s Code of Ethics.
