General Staff chief to be dismissed by Lupu’s order
The chief of the National Army General Staff Iurie Dominic will be discharged from post by order of Acting President Marian Lupu. The information was confirmed for Info-Prim Neo by the head of the presidential press office Eduard Balan.
“The head of state made an order warning the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of the Interior and the Border Guard Service about the necessity of strengthening and maintaining the military discipline. Point two of the order says the Minister of Defense must initiate the legal procedure for dismissing General Staff chief and National Army commander Iurie Dominic,” said Eduard Balan.
He could not specify the reasons for which Iurie Dominic will be dismissed.
The National Army during the last two years has witnessed a number of tragic cases. On September 22, a soldier was shot dead in Cahul by a colleague while on guard. The next day, the Prosecutor’s Office informed that a soldier was operated and had his spleen taken out after he was hit forcefully in the abdomen by a colleague.
