German organist Matthias Eisenberg to perform in “Martsishor” festival

One of the most renowned German organists, Matthias Eisenberg, will give a recital at the Organ Hall in Chisinau on March 3, within the International Festival “Martsishor”, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communiqué from the German Embassy. During five years, Matthias Eisenberg had been a member of the well-known Dresden choir Kreuz. He studied at the Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy University of Leipzig. In 1980, he was employed to work as an organist at the famous concert hall in Leipzig, serving simultaneously as a harpsichordiost at the Bach orchestra in Leipzig. In 1986, he emigrated from the German Democratic Republic to the west. After being involved in church musical work in Frankfurt am Main and Hanover, he began to give concerts as an organist and harpsichordiost, recording numerous radio productions and CDs. In 1992 – 2004, he served as a church musician on the North Sea island Sylt. In November 2004, he started to work as cantor and organist in Zwickau, Saxony. Matthias Eisenberg is a laureate of multiple international contests. He lives in the town of Schneeberg in the Erzgebirge Mountains.
