The hearing on the case of former Minister of the Interior Gheorghe Papuc and former police commissioner of Chisinau Vladimir Botnari has been postponed until July 23, 10am. “The Prosecutor’s Office should coordinate its actions and know who the prosecution lawyers are in a certain case,” Vladimir Botnari’s lawyer Gheorghe Avornic commented on the court’s decision, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. ”Tomorrow, we will be expecting an answer from the prosecutors as to what’s happening to the second case. The second case was opened according to same article 329 – misconduct in office,” Gheorghe Avornic said. On June 16, the Centru district court decided to merge the cases opened against the former Minister of the Interior and former Chisinau police commissioner into one. Gheorghe Papuc and Vladimir Botnari were charged with misconduct in office during the April 2009 events that resulted in the death of Valeriu Boboc, and with involvement in the misappropriation of millions of lei from the Ministry of the Interior.
