The municipality of Chisinau ordered closing the 2013-2014 heating season for the housing sector on March 14. Such a decision was taken following average temperatures of over 8ºC and forecasts that the weather will grow warmer constantly, IPN reports, quoting a communiqué from the Chisinau City Hall.

The kindergartens, boarding schools and hospitals remain connected to the centralized heating system. All the end-users will be supplied with hot water.

About 23,000 families from Chisinau and the suburban settlements have received cold-month allowances of 40% of the bill this season. The allowances are provided to families whose monthly incomes per member do not exceed 1,700 lei.

The 2013 – 2014 heating season was opened on November 12.
