Higher pensions and benefits and a series of new rules from April 1

Pensions and social benefits are indexed by 10% today, April 1. Indexation applies to old-age pensions, disability pensions, disability allowances and other benefits. The indexation coefficient is applied only to the part of the pension that does not exceed the amount of the average monthly salary in the economy, forecast for this year in the amount of 16,100 lei, IPN reports.

After indexation, the minimum pension for age limit increases to 3,055 lei and the average pension is 4,407 lei.

Also, the level of the guaranteed minimum monthly income is indexed by 7%, based on the inflation rate at the end of the previous year. After indexation, the level of the guaranteed minimum monthly income is 1,749 lei for an adult and 1,819 lei for a child.

On April 1, the daily allowances granted to children who remained without parental protection and were placed in foster care are indexed by 6.97%. The daily allowances increase from 23 lei to 25 lei on ordinary days, from 190 lei to 204 lei on the child's birthday and from 135 lei to 145 lei for holidays.

Also today, the new law on cash payments enters into force. In the case of transactions for the sale and purchase of real estate, cash payments will be allowed only if the price does not exceed the equivalent of 100 average monthly salaries in the economy, the equivalent of €81,700. For means of transport, the limit is 50 average monthly salaries, the equivalent of €40,800. For transactions exceeding these limits, payment must be made by bank transfer. At the same time, an amount of up to 200,000 lei can be paid in cash, even when the price exceeds the mentioned limits.

Also, the new Land Code comes into force today. The document simplifies the procedures for the sale and purchase of small agricultural lots with multiannual plantations and an area of up to 0.25 hectares. In this case, notarial authentication is no longer required, but only a confirmatory document, issued by the local public authority. In case of expropriation of land, the amount of compensation will be equivalent to the market value of the land, and public tender contests will be introduced for renting state-owned land.

New rules for foreign citizens who hold identity documents issued in Moldova take effect. The General Inspectorate for Migration noted that the sheets accompanying identity cards and residence permits become null and void. Also, the identity documents will no longer contain information about domicile or temporary residence on the back.

As of today , sport, amateur and recreational fishing is prohibited in particular rivers and lakes. The general prohibition period for this year is April 1 - June 30.

Another novelty is that from today, drivers can travel without turning on the low beam headlights of their vehicles during the day.
