Historical buildings about to fall into ruin could be repaired with budget funds
Historical buildings about to fall into ruin could be repaired from the funds of local budgets, from projects and grants. This is a provision of a draft law under development, Info-Prim Neo learned from Nicon Zaporojan, deputy head of the municipal division for architecture, urbanism and land relations.
Nicon Zaporojan says that the restoration of a historical monument costs about €5000 per sq. meter. Because of the large sums, authorities revert to the practices of the ‘90s when historical monuments were restored with budget money.
The draft law, developed by the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Regional Development and Construction, stipulates harsh fines for those who undertake works that damage historical buildings.
Most of the historical buildings in the country need restoration works to prevent them from falling into ruins.
