How many football teams next season?
The 21sth football championship opens on July 23. The number of participating teams is not yet known. Only 12 teams obtained the national license at the end of the season that closed recently.
These are: Dacia Chisinau, Sheriff Tiraspol, Milsami Orhei, Iskra-Stal Rybnitsa, Olimpia Balti, FC Tiraspol, Zimbru Chisinau, Academia Chisinau, Nistru Otaci, Rapid Chisinau, FC Costuleni, and Sfantul Gheorghe Suruceni. Gagauzia Comrat and Dinamo Bender did not obtain a license and were relegated to Division A, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The teams Ursidos Chisinau, Dinamo Tiraspol and Intersport Cobusca Noua, which ranked second, third and fourth in the second league, have chances of playing in the National Division the next season. The licensing committee is to examine their applications. Division A champion Locomotiva Balti did not apply for a license. A final decision as regards the number of teams will be taken by the Executive Committee of the Moldovan Football Federation.
On June 20, the Moldovan clubs will find out their adversaries in the European cups. Dacia will play in the Champions League preliminaries, while Sheriff, Milsami and Iskra – in Europa League.
