Two men aged 46 and 47 from Chisinau are suspected of illegally running a casino that worked including online, causing thus damage of millions of lei to the state budget, IPN reports.
According to the General Police Inspectorate, the suspects rented a commercial facility in Botanica district of Chisinau, where they set up 12 gaming tables and electronic equipment. Under the legislation, an economic entity is obliged to pay a state tax of 576,000 lei for each table.
The police established that the online the casino had worked since 2013. Under the legislation, the activity of organizing and providing games of chance through communications systems represents state monopoly and is not licensed. Only a business entity with state capital can be authorized to do this.
The men face a fine of 60,000 to 100,000 lei or up to six year in jail for tax evasion.
The illegal activities were stopped and the place was closed up until all the circumstances of this case are established.
