A four-month-old infant died while en route to hospital after a drunk driver struck his stroller in a hit-and-run on Sunday, in the village of Brezoaia, Stefan Voda district.

The driver, a man aged 26 from the same village, hit the stroller which was parked by the curbside, and fled before being taken into custody shortly after.

Tests showed that the man was heavily drunk, way beyond the permitted limit.

Witnesses said the mother had engaged in a conversation and left the stroller by the curbside.
