Instructor asks €300 for issuing driver’s license

The instructor of a Chisinau driving school asked 4 500 lei or €300 from a person for validating a driver’s license in a short period of time. The man was arrested by anticorruption officers when he was taking a part of the money marked ‘bribe’ near the driving school, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to the Anticorruption Center, the person who denounced the instructor said the man told him he will not need to attend lessons and take tests if he pays the money. The instructor said he had influence over high-ranking officials of the Transport Registration Office of the Ministry of Information Technology. Earlier, the instructor received two installments of the total sum under the control of anticorruption officers. The instructor was put under arrest for 72 hours. The Anticorruption Center started a criminal case over traffic of influence. The man faces a fine of 20,000 to 60,000 lei or two to six years’ imprisonment.
