Integrity Law passed in the final reading

The MPs on May 25 adopted the Integrity Law in the final reading by 77 votes in favor. The law is aimed at reducing corruption and cultivating integrity in the public and private sectors by encouraging the denouncing of acts of corruption, IPN reports.

The law provides for the punishment of public agents for acts of corruption, on the one hand, and of managers of public entities for lack of integrity, on the other hand. It is designed to promote no tolerance of corruption. Favoritism will be included in the list of elements of corruptive behavior and fines are to be set in this regard.

The person who is caused damage by corruption offenses or offenses assimilated to corruption can seek damages from the public entity whose agent committed the act of corruption. At the same time, the public functionaries will be obliged to declare the conflict of interests.
