International Day for Tolerance to be marked in Moldova
Photographs, pieces of graphic art and animated cartoons will be presented at the exhibition themed “Show Respect and You'll Be Respected”, which will start at the beginning of next week to mark the International Day for Tolerance on November 16, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The organizers say the multimedia exhibition aims to promote tolerance among youth and children. The photographs were taken by young people as they visited Roma families where they interacted with their peers. Other children and youths participated in the production of a thematic animation, while others participated with scripts and video materials.
“Tolerance is a virtue that makes peace possible and contributes to the replacement of the war culture with a culture of peace. Tolerance is an active attitude generated by the acknowledgment of the universal human rights and fundamental freedoms of the persons”, the organizers say.
The exhibition is part of a project of the same name, which is supported by the Open Society Institute, the International Organization for Migration and the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The declaration of principles on tolerance was proclaimed and signed by the Member States of UNESCO on 16 November 1995. It defines tolerance as respect, acceptance and appreciation of the rich diversity of our world's cultures, our forms of expression and ways of being human.
