Ex-Premier Ion Chicu, who was diagnosed with COVID-19 the second time, feels better and thanks doctors for the efforts they made to save him. “Dear friends! I hurry to inform you that owing to the exceptional professionalism of doctors and medical personnel, hundreds of lives were saved in our country the past week, including my life. I feel much better and thank the doctors for their effort!” Ion Chicu posted on a social networking site, being quoted by IPN.
“Being able to breathe independently is a big thing, believe me!” wrote the former Prime Minister.
Ion Chicu said the hospitals in the country are crowded with patients diagnosed with COVID-19. Even if spaces and financial resources can be yet identified, the medical staff is exhausted. “They work hard for each life. I ask you to protect yourselves to the maximum extent possible. I ask you to together ease the burden on doctors.”
Ion Chicu was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of the National Clinical Hospital “Timofei Moșneaga”. He was confirmed with COVID-19 the second time. At the start of last December, after he tested positive, Chicu continued fulfilling his duties remotely.
