Japanese Culture Days held at National Library

The Japanese Culture Days were celebrated at the National Library in Chisinau during October 28-30. The institution staged three creation workshops and mounted an exhibition to present the Japanese culture, IPN reports.

A workshop entitled “Komono” was held on October 30. The participants made by hand small items from fabric, such as toys, clothes and bags. “Making small things from materials remaining after making large things is something typical of the Japanese people,” stated actress Galina Roșca, a participant in the creation workshop.

Seventh grader Natalia Stratan said she came to take part in the workshop in order to learn more about the Japanese culture that is specific. “These small things we make can be used as decorations or at exhibitions, while the brooch can be worn,” stated the student.

The Japanese Culture Days at the National Library were opened on October 27 with the creation workshop “Ikebana”, where those involved created arrangements from fresh flowers. The workshop ”Sumi-e” was staged on October 28 and the participants learned to paint in Japanese style. The Ikenobo Ikebana exhibition was held during October 27-30.

Entrance and participation in all the activities was free of charge.
