Journalists of 2016 named

The Independent Journalism Center and the Committee for the Freedom of the Press summed up the results of the journalistic year 2016 and named the journalists of the year. This year the procedure for choosing the Journalist of the Year, the 22nd edition, consisted of a contest of journalistic reports and nominations by the Administration Board of the Independent Journalism Center, IPN reports.

Eugenia Pogor, of Radio Free Europe, was chosen winner in the TV journalism category, while Valentina Ursu, of Radio Free Europe, and Valeria Vitu, of Radio France International, were awarded in the radio category.

The prize for online journalism was offered to Galina Vasiliev, of the news portal newsmaker.md, and Ana Sarbu, of the news portal agora.md. In the investigative journalism category, the winners are the portal anticoruptie.md and Iurie Sanduta, of Rise Moldova. Sergiu Pascari, of the newspaper SP, was named journalist of the year in print media, while Igor Rotari, of the portal Unimedia, won the prize for photojournalism.

Seven special prizes were also handed over in the gala. Thus, Iurie Botnarenco, of the newspaper “Adevarul”, was named the hope of the year. Gheorghe Erizanu’s blog was named the best blog of the year. Valentina Basiul’s project at Radio Free Europe “Though the eyes of the press” became the best media campaign.

The innovative journalism prize was given to the portal agora.md, while the excellence prize went to the team of the journal “Contrafort”.

The best media project developed by students of the School of Advanced Journalism was given to Polina Cupcea for the project “People and kilometers”.

The Press Council’s National Journalistic Ethics and Professional Deontology Award 2016 went to the team of anticoruptie.md.
