A massive fire broke out near Grenoble St on Chisinau's outskirts. Two hectares of dry grass burned.
Press officer of the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service Diana Turcan told Info-Prim Neo that the fire broke out last night, July 27. The call to 901 was received at 11.00 PM. Three fire trucks were deployed and the fire was located in an hour.
It is supposed that the fire was caused by a cigarette butt or by someone who decided to burn the dry grass.
On Friday and Saturday early, 28 vegetation fires took place in Moldova. The fire fighters urge the people not to set fire to the dry grass, as it burns easily because of high temperatures. People should report all fires at 901.
The weather service issued an orange code alert for July 26-30, forecasting temperatures of +38 degrees Celsius.
