Legislation regulating notaries’ work to be amended

Notaries will stop work when they reach 65. The annulment of license is another reason for stopping work. The notaries will be suspended or banned from working by order of the minister of justice. A bill to this effect was endorsed by the Cabinet in its July 16 meeting, IPN reports.

Another amendment proposed by the Ministry of Justice refers to internship. Internship will be extended to 18 months and will include initial training courses and traineeship under the direction of the managing notary.

The bill provides for the creation of the Notarial Chamber as a self-governing and professional representation body. The Chamber will stage internship admission contests, will sign internship contracts and will organize training courses for notaries on probation. The bill also institutes disciplinary liability for notaries on probation.

When the internship is over, the notaries on probation will take an exam. The grade in this exam will be used to calculate the average grade for taking part in the contest to fill the vacancies for notary.
