A 36-year-old man was sentenced to seven years in prison for stealing a vintage car. The four-wheeled jewel was at a parking lot managed by a company, where the defendant worked as security chief, IPN reports.
The Prosecutor General's Office said that by stealing the car of "GAZ M20" make, manufactured in 1955, the owner caused damage of 380,000 lei.
The location of the vintage car has not been determined. Thus, the court admitted the civil lawsuit and the defendant and the company management the parking lot are obliged to pay together the amount of 387,798 lei in respect of pecuniary damages caused to the injured party, as well as the amount of 6,000 lei in court costs.
According to prosecutors, the defendant, who pleaded not guilty, is to serve his sentence in a semi-closed prison.
The sentence can be appealed to the Centru Court of Appeals.
