Man kills wife, dumps body in Nistru
A 55-year-old man is suspected to have shot his wife to death and dumped her body, as well as the gun, in the Nistru River, Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to the Ministry of the Interior, the tragedy happened in a household in Rascovat village, Soroca district, at the end of last week. The police as called by the victim's son-in-law, who alerted them that his mother-in-law was missing.
The body was found in the Nistru River. The police found that in the night of the crime, the victim’s husband came home drunk and they had an argument. The man shot his wife in the chest with an illegally-owned gun. She died instantly. In order to get rid of the body, the man went to his son-in-law and asked his car, claiming he wanted to go to the forest. He used the car to take the body 3 km from the village and dump it in the Nistru alongside the gun.
The man is charged with premeditated murder, which is punishable by 20 years in jail or even life sentence. The villagers say that the couple was previously known as a hardworking well-off family. They had a daughter and three grandsons.
