The man who threw a burning object towards the motorcade of German Chancellor Angela Merkel during her visit to Chisinau risks from 3 to 7 years in jail. The prosecutors have finalized the investigation and will forward the case to court, Info-Prim Neo reports. Prosector of Rascani sector Igor Popa told the press on Friday, December 28, that the accused refused to undergo psychiatric examination. “He doesn’t appear on psychiatrists’ records. The reason he cites for what he did isn’t too plausible”, said the prosecutor. Igor Popa added that the man noticed when the motorcade turned towards Cricova and awaited it to return on the road towards the airport. The man was under the influence of drugs and later the police found cannabis in his apartment. Previously, the man had been held for theft and the case is being examined by the Chisinau Court of Appeal.
