The director of the state-run enterprise “Sud-A-Con” that was founded by the General Constructions Division of Gagauzia was arrested on suspicion of abuse of power. This is suspected of fixing a number of public tenders contests as the director of a company empowered to manage the building sector, including to perform repair works and provide other services, IPN reports.

According to the National Anticorruption Center, in 2013 the suspect founded and administered the company SRL “Eni Ev” with the aim of winning the tender contests on the territory of the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia. Thus, he favored his own company at public tender contests, choosing it to perform works to the value of over 2 million lei.

His company repaired the roof of the lyceum in Besalma village, paved the territory of the secondary school in Congaz, repaired the roof of the lyceum in Cismichioi and repaired the nursery school in Etulia.

Officers of the National Anticorruption Center and anticorruption prosecutors carried out searches at the home, in the car and at the office of the director of “Sud-A-Con”, at the company’s accountant and at SRL “Eni Ev”.

Starting with 2013, “Eni Ev” has had no employee, except for the director and account. This carried out all the construction works and other services in the absence of documents allowing performing such an activity.

The director of “Sud-A-Con” was placed under arrest for 72 hours initially. He faces 6 to 10 years in jail and ban on holding particular jobs and carrying out particular activities for a period of 10 to 15 years.
