Maria Biesu turns 75
The Prima Donna of the National Opera Maria Biesu has turned 75 today. On this occasion, Prime Minister Vlad Filat gave Maria Biesu a bouquet of roses and wished her good health and many happy returns, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communiqué from the Government.
The Premier promised the Prima Donna he will provide support in organizing this year’s International Festival “Maria Biesu Invites”. He assured he will also support the activities of the Union of Musicians of Moldova, which is headed by Maria Biesu. “I thank you for everything you’ve done for us all,” Vlad Filat said.
For her part, Maria Biesu thanked the Prime Minister for the visit and wished him good luck in his work.
The famous opera singer Maria Biesu was born on August 3, 1935 in Volintiri, Tighina county. She made her debut in Puccini’s opera "Tosca". She performed on hundreds of stages. Since 1990, Maria Biesu has invited opera and ballet stars from all over the world to a festival bearing her name. The artist received numerous awards, including "Emeritus Artist", "People’s Artist", "The Order of the Republic".
