Maria Callas show to be held in Chisinau
A theatrical show dedicated to opera diva Maria Callas, themed “The People Wanted to See Her!”, will premiere in Chisinau on March 25. Inspired from the play “Master Class” by the renowned American dramatist Terrence McNally, the show is a Moldo-Russian project starring Chisinau-born Tatiana Nastashevskaya, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“The show in Chisinau is a continuation of the events dedicated to Maria Callas and presented in Belgrad, Paris, New York and London. The play builds on a number of operettas, which the diva performed when her voice started to decline”, said Sergey Puhleakov of Moscow, the director of the show.
“The play describes the complicated life of Maria Callas and her personal drama, too. She was an amazing figure in the world of music”, said Puhleakov, promising the public that the show will feature video footage and original soundtracks.
A particularity of this theatrical project is that the role of the opera diva will be played by a drama artist – Tatiana Nastashevskaya, from a Moscow theater – while the drama roles will be played by opera singers.
“We wish that this show would attract not just intellectuals and classic music lovers, but a large variety of spectators. Even if the particularity of the play is the art of opera, it also has plenty of love, life, passion to offer to the public”, added Puhleakov.
“Maria Callas. The People Wanted to See Her!” will be shown at the Organ Hall on March 25, 26, 27, and 28. The price of the tickets ranges from 60 to 500 lei.
