Marian Lupu: Ratification of Association Agreement is a historical moment

The chairman of the Democratic Party (PDM) Marian Lupu dedicated the ratification of the Association Agreement between Moldova and the European Union by the European Parliament on November 13 to the Moldovan people. He thanked all the representatives of the EU member states who support Moldova in its European integration efforts, IPN reports, quoting a communiqué of the PDM.

“It is a historical moment made possible by the people of Moldova. Owing to them, Moldova follows the path to European development and stability. Our country is respected at foreign level. Alongside the European partners, we will more efficiently protect the families, will generate well-paid jobs, will fight poverty and corruption and will bring the extremist tendencies in society to an end,” stated Marian Lupu.

According to him, the immediate objectives of Moldova in the European integration process are: to maintain a climate of political and social stability in the country, to develop the national economy and to strengthen the democratic institutions.

The Association Agreement was signed on June 27 and was ratified by Moldova’s Parliament on July 2.  So far the agreement has been ratified by the legislative bodies of seven of the 28 EU member states, namely Romania, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Bulgaria, Malta, and Slovakia.
