A governmental program intended for the diaspora will be launched in connection with the inscribing of the Martsishor - amulet worn at chest to mark the coming of spring - on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. This is entitled “Martsishor from home”, IPN reports, with reference to the Bureau for Diaspora Relations.
The program starts in The Hague of the Netherlands on March 3 and will continue in Brussels, Belgium (March 4), Athens, Greece (March 11), Bucharest, Romania (March 24) and Barcelona, Spain (March 25). There will be staged thematic workshops on martsishor making techniques. Also, Alex Calancea Band will give a recital.
The program is designed to consolidate the diaspora, to promote the traditions and the positive image of Moldova abroad through the agency of the martsishor and to keep the emotional, cultural and identity ties of the Moldovans who settled abroad with the homeland.
