A number of leading Moldovan media NGOs have expressed their solidarity with reporter Victoria Ocara of Jurnal TV – who was injured to the head by stone-throwers during a rally in Balti – vehemently condemning the attack, Info-Prim Neo reports. In a press statement, the organizations request the Ministry of the Interior to properly investigate the case and make the results of the investigation public, and punish the perpetrator according to law. The statement also firmly condemns the instigators and the political forces that fomented the violence and thus obstructed the exercise of the constitutional right to freedom of expression during a properly authorized demonstration. The statement is signed by the Independent Journalism Center, the Independent Press Association, the Electronic Press Association, the Moldovan Union of Journalists, the Investigative Journalism Center and the Committee for Press Freedom.
