Medical devices and medicines purchased with funding from Japan

The Republic of Moldova will receive medical devices and medicines in the framework of a project funded by Japan. The Government of Japan approved US$10 million in financial support for the WHO urgent response to address COVID-19 and other infectious diseases in Ukraine and neighboring countries, IPN reports.

Diagnostics for infectious diseases, medical equipment for medical centers, therapeutic products, immunobiological products, disinfectants and decontaminants will be provided for displaced people in Ukraine and neighboring countries, such as Poland, Romania, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Bulgaria, and the Republic of Moldova. The aid will be offered through the WHO Regional Office for Europe.

This assistance will be provided as Phase 3 of the WHOs urgent response to address COVID-19 and other infectious diseases in Ukraine and neighboring countries, following financial support for Phase 1 – $9,500,000 in 2022 and Phase 2 – $10,000,000 in 2023.
