Two men from Drochia town were arrested on suspicion that they blackmailed and threatened to kill two persons. According to the police, the suspects took one of the victims to a forest and forced this to dig a grave. The victim was allowed to go only after promising to give money to the offenders, IPN reports.
According to the General Police Inspectorate, the men extorted hundreds of euros from victims without reason. On February 20 this year, the suspects got 3,000 lei by blackmail. It was established that the suspects beat the victim and took this to a forest to dig a grave in order to force the person to give them money.
The same day, one of the suspects was caught in the act of taking 2,300 lei from the victim near a service station. This man was earlier convicted of a number of offenses.
The culprits face 7 to 10 years in jail and a fine of 30,000 to 40,000 lei for blackmail.
