Mihai Poalelungi named Supreme Court of Justice judge
Moldova’s representative at the European Court of Human Rights Mihai Poalelungi became a member of the Supreme Court of Justice. The decision to name him to this post was taken in the February 7 meeting of the Supreme Council of Magistrates by nine votes for and three against, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Among the applicants was Anatol Turcan, who is a member of the Supreme Council of Magistrates and judge at the Chisinau Court of Appeals. An application was also filed by the Chisinau Court of Appeals judge Liliana Catan, but she later withdrew it.
Mihail Poalelungi served as a judge at the Supreme Court of Justice in 2003 and vice president of the Court since 2005 until 2008, when he became a judge at the ECHR.
