The minibus route administrators and the local authorities reached a compromise. Thus, over the next few weeks, the problems that appeared as a result of the modification of the itinerary of a municipal route will be solved. According to the acting head of the Public Transport and Communications Division Igor Gamretski, the drivers must think not only about profit, but also about the people, IPN reports.
“We had heated discussions with the route administrators. There were two days of blockage. We agreed to start identifying the problems. If need be, we will return to the discussions. We understand that there is competition between the routes, but the administrators should realize that the passengers are more important than the business,” Igor Gamretski said Monday.
Deputy mayor Nistor Grozavu said the minibus route administrators should look for other ways to solve their financial problems. “They know that the minibus routes and the trolleybus and bus routes were overlapped with a view to offering the people an alternative. The Chisinau Electric Transport Company didn’t protest then. They found other methods of solving their economic and financial problems,” he stated.
Last week, the drivers of minibuses running on routes No. 109, 113 and 191 mounted a strike. They demanded that Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca annul the order to extend the itinerary of minibus route No. 178 because it coincides 70-80% with the itineraries of routes No. 113, 109, 191, and 169.
