The Marculesti International Airport scandal was caused by the enterprise’s incompetent management and the failure to pay for five years the insurance rates for the contracts signed with Moldasig. This is the insurance company’s reaction after airport administrator Sergiu Ciobanu claimed that the state enterprise was under a raider attack, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to a Moldasig press release, the Supreme Justice Court ruled that the airport must pay Moldasig 11 million lei. The debt was amassed over five years during which the airport didn’t pay the insurance rates under 84 contracts. “This case affects the image of the Marculesti International Airport and of Moldova as a whole. We understood this and that’s why didn’t make the trial public”, said Moldasig general director Vitalie Bodea. On October 22, Sergiu Ciobanu issued a press release accusing Moldasig of dragging the Marculesti International Airport through courts without any good reason and that the state risked losing the enterprise.
