Deputy Minister of Culture Gheorghe Postica said it is regrettable that the cultural inheritance of Moldova can be eulogized and promoted not even on the European Heritage Days. “When the whole Europe celebrates its historical and cultural monuments, we continue to speak about the drawbacks of our national patrimony,” the deputy minister said in the opening of the European Heritage Days that are held in Moldova between September 16 and 25, Info-Prim Neo reports. On the occasion of the event, there was launched the publication “Moldova’s Cultural Patrimony - from reality to necessity” that describes the situation of the national cultural and historical monuments. It appeared with the support of the Ministry of Culture and the Agency for Monument Inspection and Restoration. ”We have monuments that the people do not know or know insufficiently and they do not realize that these monuments are in a deplorable condition. The given publication provides information about the cultural-historical heritage of the Moldovan people. Six experts of the Agency did huge work and produced this publication that will help promote and protect the national monuments,” said Gheorghe Postica. Lecturer Tamara Nesterov, who prepared the publication’s preface, said the book is about the most representative cultural and historical monuments of the country. “The publication of such a book is welcome. More such publications should appear, but they should be not so sad. They should contain accomplishments of which we would be proud,” she said. Ion Stefanita, director of the Agency for Monument Inspection and Restoration, said the national patrimony must be restored and protected. The Agency and the Ministry of Culture try to convey this message through the modest resources they have. The European Heritage Days in Moldova will include cultural activities aimed at informing the public about the real situation of the national monuments.
