The General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations received 19 special vehicles, donated by the Government of Japan. The handover ceremony was held in the Great National Assembly Square in Chisinau, IPN reports.



The 19 special vehicles, manufactured in Japan, will be distributed to ten localities of the country. The donation is part of the Moldovan-Japanese project "Improvement of Fire Prevention Equipment". They were purchased with grunt funding of approximately 240 million lei.



President Maia Sandu stressed the importance of this support, noting that over 1 million citizens will benefit from a faster reaction in case of emergency.

"I want to reiterate my gratitude to the Japanese partners for their generous support and also thank you, the rescuers, for your courage, devotion and tireless work in the service of the people," said the head of state.



Minister of Internal Affairs Daniella Misail-Nichitin highlighted Japan's contribution in the field of emergency management.

"This support helps us to form more resilient, stronger and faster infrastructure in the face of crises," said the minister.

For his part, the Ambassador of Japan to the Republic of Moldova Yamadda Yoichir noted that this donation reflects the solid partnership between the two countries and Japan's commitment to strengthening Moldova’s capacities to deal with emergency situations.



The special vehicles of the subdivisions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs were exhibited in the central square of Chisinau. Citizens can see them by 02:00 p.m.

The handover event took place on the eve of the Savior's Day that is marked annually on April 5. On this occasion, the General Inspectorate for Emergency Satiations will organize an Awardees' Gala - a solemn ceremony to recognize the merits of those who dedicated their lives to protecting citizens.



The trucks are to be put into active service after the completion of technical training carried out by Japanese experts in the Inspectorate’s subdivisions in the country.
