Moldova to sign two agreements with Lithuania

Moldova is to sign two agreements with Lithuania, one on technical and financial cooperation and another on mutual exchange and protection of classified information. The Cabinet on Monday approved the draft decisions on the initiation of negotiations, IPN reports.

“The actuality of the Agreement (on technical and financial cooperation) lies in the need to strengthen the bilateral relations, as well as to promote the socioeconomic development and energy independence of our country. The conclusion of the Agreement will facilitate the implementation of technical assistance projects provided by the Republic of Lithuania. The promotion of the Agreement will support the development of infrastructure, thus contributing to the promotion of agriculture and the development of rural infrastructure, to the cooperation of fire and rescue services in the Republic of Moldova, to building resilience to disinformation, with a special emphasis on independent media, etc.” said Sergiu Mihov, state secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The second agreement was drawn up with the aim of ensuring the protection of classified information produced jointly or exchanged in the process of cooperation.

The two agreements are to be signed on May 28 in Vilnius, during the visit that will be paid by Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popșoi, Minister of Foreign Affairs.
