The Republic of Moldova will be exempted from paying financial contributions to EU programs. The ratification of the framework agreement with the European Commission in this regard was approved by the Cabinet, IPN reports.
“The given framework agreement aims to suspend the Republic of Moldova’s obligation to pay the annual financial contribution starting with 2021 and the next years, under the multiannual financial framework for 2021-2027, for Moldova’s participation in European Union programs, such as Fiscalis, Customs, Single Market Program EU4Health, LIFE, Horizon Europe and other important programs for the Republic of Moldova,” said Minister of Finance Petru Rotaru.
According to him, Moldova’s future agreements to join EU programs can be subsequently subject to suspension in accordance with the provisions of the approved framework agreement. “The need to maintain the suspension will be assessed by the European Commission, primarily based on the information provided by the Government of the Republic of Moldova,” noted the minister.
The framework agreement, concluded by exchange of letters, between the Republic of Moldova and the European Commission for the application of the suspension of Moldova’s financial contributions to European Union programs was signed on January 23, 2024 in Chisinau.
