The Cabinet decided to open four new embassies of Moldova, in India, Argentina, Ghana, and Ireland, IPN reports.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration suggested opening an embassy in Ghana in a bid to ensure Moldova’s diplomatic presence on the African continent. Ghana’s economy is on the ascent. Its economic growth this year is expected to be 8.3-8.9%. The embassy will contribute to developing the political dialogue, offering possibilities of cooperation in areas of common interest with this country and with other countries of the region.
Moldova’s embassy in New Delhi will ensure the ties with the country that is forecast to become one of the three leading world economies and will help build links with other countries of the region.
The embassy in Buenos Aires will be the first embassy of Moldova in South America and will ensure Moldova’s diplomatic presence in the given area.
An embassy in Dublin is needed given the number of Moldovans living and working in Ireland and the existing big bilateral cooperation potential in politics, economy and tourism. The embassy will enable to strengthen the political support and to extend the technical assistance in the field of European integration for Moldova.
Moldova currently has 33 embassies and consulates aboard.
