Moldovan dairy products are below standards, NGO
Several dairy products companies in Moldova don’t meet the standards and use vegetal fats in the production of butter and sour cream. The statement was made by head of the Moldovan Center for Protection of Consumers Denis Starus, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Denis Starus told the press that he requested a testing of several dairy products made in Moldova. The lab results showed than many local producers don’t respect the standards.
According to Starus, the butter “Crestianscoe” from JLC and “Casuta mea” from Lapmol contain vegetal fats. The sour creams “JLC”, “Casuta mea” and “MilkMark” also contain vegetal fats, which is against the standards.
Denis Starus added that some producers don’t even respect the standard regarding proper labeling, especially as regards the date of production and of expiry. He says that producers who violate the law are misleading consumers. The Center plans to sue the cheating producers.
Head of press service of the Agency for Protection of Consumers Viorica Sterbet told Info-Prim Neo that two testings of dairy products were made this year. It was found that two companies didn’t meet the requirements and one of them sued the Agency because it didn’t agree with the results. The Agency also forbade the batches of products that were below standards.
