Moldovan national futsal team misses out on qualification
Moldova's national futsal team failed to progress to the second qualifying round of the 2012 World Cup after losing by a narrow margin to Georgia in a penalty shootout, 5-6, Info-Prim Neo reports.
At the end of regulation time the game was tied at 2-2, with Moldova's goals being scored by Valeriu Baiesu and Sergiu Tacot. The fate of the match was decided through penalty kicks and the Georgian side was more precise. Baiesu, Tacot, Alexandru Natcovschii, Constantin Burdujel and Vasile Arlet scored for Moldova, and the only miss was from captain Oleg Hiloti.
This result qualified Georgia to the second round of the competition and demoted Moldova to the third position in the group below Armenia.
