Moldovan Tennis Federation hopes to host new Davis Cup match

The Moldovan Tennis Federation wants to host a new match of the Davis Cup. After beating Hungary, the national men’s tennis team of Moldova qualified for the second round of the second group of the Euro-African zone, where they will meet the team of Bosnia and Herzegovina during April 5-7. The host of the match will be decided next week by draw. For the match with Hungary, the Moldovan Tennis Federation installed a tennis court at the Polyvalent Hall, which was surrounded by seats for about 1,500 spectators. “We are satisfied with the way everything was organized. The costs incurred were fully rewarded by this nice victory,” the Federation’s president Marina Tauber said in a news conference. The Moldovan tennis players celebrated the victory against Hungary at a karaoke club in Chisinau. The Tennis Federation will give them money awards for their results. “We compete for the country, free of charge. I always liked taking part in this competition” said Maxim Dubarenko, who won the decisive victory against Hungary. On February 4, the national squad had a meeting with Prime Minister Vlad Filat, who thanked them for their excellent performance and offered them by a reward.
