Moldovan tennis players eliminated from “D. Sturza” tournament
Moldova remained without competitors at the international tournament “Dmitrie Sturza Trophy” that is held in Chisinau this week.
In the men’s contest, Alexandru Cozbinov was eliminated in the quarterfinals by Poland’s Kamil Gajewski by 7-6, 4-6, 6-3. In the women’s competition, Cristina Bucsa left the competition in the second round after she was beaten by Ana Bianca Mihaila from Romnia 6-2, 6-2, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The Moldovan players disappointed also in the doubles. Alexandru Cozbinov and Egor Matvievici went through up to the quarterfinals. An identical result among women was reached by the pair Daniela Ciobanu / Alina Soltanici.
The finals were scheduled for February 17.
Tennis players younger than 18 are taking part in the international tournament “Dmitrie Sturza” Trophy. The competition has been organized in Chisinau since 2000. The last time Moldova’s representatives were triumphant at this event in 2011, when Maxim Dubarenko became the winner.
