Moldovans abroad can apply for non-biometric passports
The Moldovans living or working abroad can apply for old-type, non-biometric passports at Moldova's embassies and consulates from March 18, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The amendment to the law on identification papers, which allows the Moldovans abroad to obtain non-biometric passports from the embassies and consulates of Moldova by December 31, was published in the Official Gazette on March 18.
The amendment is aimed at helping the Moldovan citizens who are abroad and cannot return to the country to apply for biometric passports.
Until December 31, 2011, the Government will take steps to outfit Moldova’s embassies and consular offices abroad with the equipment needed to make biometric passports.
