Moldovans with Schengen visas will stay in Romania without other visas

From February 1, 2014, the Moldovan citizens who have Schengen visas will be able to stay in Romania without Romanian visas.

During a telephone conversation, Prime Minister Iurie Leanca thanked his Romanian counterpart Victor Ponta for the decision taken by the Romanian authorities, saying it will facilitate Moldovan citizens’ trips to Romania, IPN reports.

Until now, the Moldovans who had Schengen visas could only transit Romania.

On November 27, 2013, the European Commission proposed to the European Parliament and the Council of the EU to abolish the visa requirements for Moldovans holding a biometric passport.
