Moldova’s latest Olympics results
Nicolae Ceban ranked 11th in the 96 kg wrestling category at the Olympic Games in London, which ended on Sunday, August 12, Info-Prim Neo reports.
In the eighth-finals, Ceban defeated Nigerian Sinivie Boltic, but lost to Georgia’s George Gogshelidze in the quarter-finals.
On the last day, Moldova was also represented by two athletes in the marathon competition. Iaroslav Musinschi finished 25th of 105 runners, with a result of 2 hours 16 minutes and 25 seconds. His colleague Roman Prodius abandoned the race.
At the current edition of the Olympics, Moldova won two bronze medals, both in weightlifting thanks to Cristina Iovu and Anatol Caracu. Good results were obtained by athletes Zalina Marghiev (8th place), Ion Luchianov (10th place), judoka Sergiu Toma, boxer Vasile Belous and archer Dan Olaru (all eliminated in the 1/8 finals).
In the medals table, Moldova shares the 75th place with Greece, Qatar and Singapore, with only two bronze medals. The United States of America lead the top with 46 gold medals, 29 silver and 29 bronze.
The next Olympics will be hosted by Brazil, between August 5 and 21, 2016.
