More people suffer sunstroke and cardiovascular problems
Six persons suffered sunstroke, while several dozen people had cardiovascular problems last week, the Health Division head Mihai Moldovanu said at the ordinary meeting of the Chisinau City Hall on Monday, Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to the official, the number of persons that seek medical assistance has considerably increased. As many as 5,000 persons needed emergency medical assistance last week. Over 2,000 of them have been hospitalized.
When it is very hot, the body loses minerals and vitamins together with the water when perspiring. This can lead to asthenia and metabolic disorders or to the development of chronic diseases, especially high blood pressure.
In order to avoid such situations, the doctors recommend drinking two liters of liquid a day on average and eating as many fruit and vegetables as possible.
The children must also eat healthy foot and drink more water and not be exposed to direct sunlight, excessive humidity or draught.
The elderly persons that suffer from chronic diseases are advised to consult their doctor so as to adapt their treatment program to the present weather conditions. They should also take showers several times a day.
Weather forecasters say the high temperatures will return on Wednesday, when the thermometers will read 36 degrees Celsius and above.
