Most of radio stations obey required percentage of national music

The monitoring carried out recently by the Broadcasting Coordination Council (BCC) shows that most of the radio stations obey the norms concerning the percentage of national music that must be broadcast, which were laid down in a Council’s decision. Under this decision, the national songs must represent 30% of the total volume of broadcast music, IPN reports.

The monitoring covered 25 radio stations. Radio Moldova broadcast national music in the amount of 59.51%, Radio Noroc – of 55.08%, while Radio Plai – of 51.42%. Only Univers FM ignored the BCC’s decision and broadcast only 8.68% of national songs.

BCC head Dinu Ciocan said the minimum volume of national music is generally ensured by the 25 radio stations, the average per country being 37.58%. “However, some of the stations continue to massively transmit national music at night. I think we will later return to this type of monitoring and will make sure that the national songs are broadcast uniformly,” he stated.
