A woman and her son died in a fire in their house in Lipcani town of Briceni district. Liliana Puscasu, spokeswoman for the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service, has told Info-Prim Neo that neighbors saw smoke coming out at about 01.00 last night and called the firefighters. The 73-year-old woman and her son aged 43 could not be saved. The cause of fire is being established. Another tragedy happened in a house in Cujba village, Glodeni district. The firefighters found the body of a man aged 62 in a room destroyed by flames. Most probably, the fire started as a result of the incorrect use of the stove. The firefighters warn that the number of home fires in the cold period of the year increases. Most of the fires are caused by faulty stoves, heaters or electrical appliances. In order to avoid tragedies, it is recommended not making fires near flammable materials and dry fodder and not using handmade heating installations. The 1,838 fires that happened in Moldova this year resulted in 158 deaths. Five of the victims were children.
