The subdivisions of the Chisinau City Hall are to cut the current costs by 5-10%. The request was made by Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca, who on February 9 said 2015 will be a difficult year because the costs for investment projects are not covered and owing to the depreciation of the leu, IPN reports.

The head of the Finance Division Veronica Herta said the losses for 2015 were estimated at about 260 million lei. Though half of the sum is to be covered with money from the state budget, which is 130 million lei, the Ministry of Finance gave its consent for 62.7 million lei only. When the new government is formed, the local authorities will make a repeated request to the executive and the Ministry.

“These are not just stated fears. These are realities already and everyone should put forward initiatives to reduce all the costs,” said the mayor, referring to the budget deficit and the lack of funds for investments projects.

According to the draft municipal budget for 2015, the revenues will total 2.839 billion lei, while the expenditure – 3.225 billion lei.
