A male inmate at the Balti Penitentiary was beaten to death by his cellmate. The Balti District Court sentenced the perpetrator to 16 years in prison for premeditated murder, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to the prosecutors, in September 2011 the perpetrator attacked his cellmate accusing him of being an informant for the prison administration and of being responsible for frequent cell searches. On the next day, the cellmate's body displaying signs of a violent death was found by the administration. The perpetrator, 24, was previously convicted on charges of causing of severe bodily injuries and hooliganism. With the murder sentence added, he will spend the next 18 years in prison.
