National Bank issues 7 new silver coins

Starting October 10, the National Bank of Moldova (BNM) will issue 7 commemorative silver coins, as means of payment and for numismatic purposes, reports Info-Prim Neo. According to a communique from the BNM, the “Famous Figures” gets an addition with a coin dedicated to 100 years from the birth of poet and publicist Andrei Lupan, whose works are a reflection of Bessarabia's post-war reality. The coin has a nominal value of 50 lei, weighs 13 grams, minted in 500 copies. 160 years from the publication of the “Miorita” (“The Lamb”) ballad are marked with an addition to the “Moldovan holidays, culture and traditions” with a coin depicting the Lamb and the shepherd under a stylized sun. The coin has a nominal value of 50 lei, weighs 16.5 grams, minted in 2,000 copies. Two other coins with the same characteristics and nominal values depict the Butuceni Monastery and Soroca Citadel, two of Moldova's remarkable cultural sites. They are additions to the series “Moldova's Monasteries” and “Moldova's Monuments”. The “Chisinau Mazarache Church” coin, with a nominal value of 50 lei, weight of 16.5 grams, minted in 1,000 copies, is an addition to the “Holy Sites” series. Also on October 10, coins the “Otter” and the “Lady's Slipper Orchid”, from the “Moldova's Red Book of Endangered Species” series, will be put into circulation. The coins have a nominal value of 50 lei, weigh 16.5 grams, and were minted in 1,000 copies each. The coins will be sold at the National Bank of Moldova and other licensed banks. The latter can set their own prices for the coins, yet the prices cannot exceed +3% from the price set by the National Bank of Moldova.
